Today 1/26 I'm getting Computation Error on any task I try, so I've stopped in case it's me.
I don't know how to navigate BOINC too much, but for what it's worth I see
Output file 8_... for task 8_... absent. That might just be because there was no actual computations.
Any task only runs a few seconds before it errors.


Nope not you, it happened on several of my pc's and I too stopped getting new tasks, mine were all the version 8 tasks

I hope you can provide more than a few dozen tasks at a time as there are a bunch of us who would love to crunch your tasks but just can't get any.

I think it means it's not on your end as the server can't find the file to send you, now if your end is blocking the files due to your a/v program etc then it is on your end. Right now it doesn't much matter anyway though as they don't have very many tasks to send out anyway.

Yes it still exists and as I brought some of my pc's here I hit it too and I do NOT have any pc with a cpu core with 64 threads!!

Development of a Windows/Boinc isn't necessary for the project. Developing a higher project feeder might be a priority or they may be happy with the processing rate they have, or they may not have the staff to do anymore. As I said there's very little information flowing from the staff to this bulletin board.


Unfortunately is very difficult to use VirtualBox for this project at the same time with my Boinc on Windows (for project that have Windows wus).


Try using WSL in Windows, essentially it does the same thing but is MUCH easier

We seem to be getting ALOT of #2 tasks but not so many of the other kinds and I was wondering why?

This is a dynamic WUS generation system.
I think between 200,000 and 400,000 WUS for this part (EDR 3).
After Gaia DR3 will be about 1,000,000 - 1,200,000
But it is only WUS predictions.....


I don't think that matters if for example I could choose to do the 3, 5 and 6 tasks and then let the system send me any other kind if they are unavailable. The only people it would affect is those who ONLY want to crunch Gaia 3 tasks and nothing else, but they aren't going to hang around long anyway, AND that assumes they have any clue about what the difference is between the different types of tasks in the first place.

I sent an email to the one listed for this site and the Admin replied right away saying more are coming as they are only about 10% complete. I didn't ask 'when?' because that means they would be tied down to something that they then might not meet.

I used a piece of software before it went out of business after the Developer said an update would be available "within 2 months", after 6 months they finally shut down the forums and emails due to all the nasty comments from people complaining about them missing the deadline. They did not care that he had a family member who had gotten really sick and required his near full time attention they just blasted him about the deadline. Instead of releasing the update they stopped supporting and developing the software altogether!! That's why I don't ask 'when?' anymore.

I will be patient and keep an eye out for new tasks and crunch them when they become available.

4 out of 16 tasks were stopped after 1.5 hours run time.


Mine are running into the 10 hour time frame and finishing but saying they are using zero cpu time and only running for about 1.5 hours.


By the looks of things yours are the 2_Gaia tasks that are long running not the revised 3_Gaia tasks.


I am, they are up to 18 hours on the one pc still running, the one pc I have problems with don't ask, have all restarted at zero.

I had 2 WUs that were continuing to run past 6 hours (on different machines). I just aborted them. Hope I didn't do that prematurely. (I've only had 1 2_Gaia WUs complete successfully so far)
